Sara Kališnik

Hi there! Above is the oldest picture of me helping my mother in her then Yugoslavian kitchen. Since then Slovenia has gained independence from Yugoslavia, and about 10 years ago, when I became independent, I moved away from Slovenia. I have lived in the US and Germany, and now reside in Switzerland. But of course my Slovenian heritage accompanies me wherever I go! When I miss home, I think back to my adventures with my mother and grandmother when growing and preparing delicious food. I planted strawberries with grandma on our family plot, we plucked chamomile flowers for homemade tea, and we had countless debates about how thinly to roll the dough when making potica and how much filling to use...

This collection of recipes and posts is a homage to my home and my roots. I hope you will find them as comforting and enjoyable as me - even if you are not Slovenian!
